Lake Vyrnwy Cycling
Whether your ambitions go no further than a little pleasurable exercise or you have your eyes on the polka dot jersey, Lake Vyrnwy offers some of the best cycling in North Wales.
Hire a bike and you can spend hours exploring the shores of the lake – the road around Lake Vyrnwy is 11 miles long – perfect for a leisurely cycle – and provides plenty of interest as it takes you into little bays and inlets – it’s got the added advantage of being very flat so worries about aching thighs can be banished.
If you prefer to put your mountain bike to a little more of a test, there’s plenty of trails to explore and you can cycle to the front of the spectacular Rhiwargor waterfall.
If you have got eyes on the polka dot jersey then you’ll find Lake Vyrnwy is nestled between two of North Wales’ most celebrated cycling climbs, the Bwlch y Groes and the Hirnant Pass – it’s a spectacular way to build up a little lactic acid!
